Hamas propaganda
Hamas propaganda

Rarely have I seen two such misleading letters to the editor printed back-to-back as I saw in the Monitor on July 22 and 23.
John Hancock’s and Ken Jopp’s letters on the Middle East should be labeled Hamas propaganda.
The Palestinian people’s biggest problem is their leadership. Hamas and Fatah fight like children, and they fight over everything. Gaza has no electricity because these two political parties cannot agree over how much each will pay for Gaza’s electric bill. Humanitarian? After Hamas defeated Fatah at the polls and the subsequent insurrection, Hamas shot Fatah members in the knees and threw them off rooftops.
Israel does not occupy Gaza. In fact, Israel moved out of Gaza in 2005, leaving the Palestinian people and their leadership to their own devices. Israel maintains a blockade to exclude certain materiel that may have a military application like bullets, explosives and cement. Egypt enforces this blockade on Gaza’s southern border and is supported by Jordan and Syria.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated on C-SPAN that Hamas can have peace whenever it wants
